In fact, making this type of button using a homemade template or loom seems to have appeared in the 1980s or so - a relative newcomer. Gina-B Silkworks then developed these looms into a graduated set of reusable tools, to create the original Yorkshire Button Kit©, produced in a range of styles and sizes as well as creating original patterns for using these looms.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYorkshire buttons are very similar in technique to the traditional Dorset buttons. However, they are made on a little loom, and then stuffed to create a ball or flat shape. They can be made using leftover wool and thread from projects – in fact they often work best with thicker thread.
