At my Mandala Workshop you will learn how to Embroider (or Hand Stitch) organically and in a whimsical style. You will choose the colours that speak to you. I will encourage you to use colours that normally would not go together, step outside of your comfort zone, stitch intuitively, be unique & creative and to not stress about precision. You will use different fibres (cottons and metallic) to create interest and dimension in your final piece of art. Your Mandala may not be completed by the end of the workshop, but you will have a good understanding of how to continue to completion.

Your finished embroidery will be approximately 10-12” in diameter, not including edging for finishing.

Some ideas to finish your embroidery:

Frame (mat/frame or use a wood hoop)

·       bag-carry all-notion keeper

·       pin cushion

·       accent pillow by piecing it along with other linen or cotton fabrics

·       use your block in your favorite wall hanging pattern

·       ***Please Note: the threads we are using are not colourfast. I suggest not making your embroidery into something that will not require warm water wash. Cold water is recommended but colours may still bleed. As well with embroidery, stitches will not stand up to continual washing. A bag, wall hanging, pillow etc is your best option***

A little Information About Barbie Attrill:

§  First and foremost, I love embroidery!!! As well I love being free to stitch how I feel and intuitively.  Since starting my boutique, I fell in love with the world of embroidery. I see the threads and fibres as paint and oh so many possibilities they hold! I do not know every stitch by heart and quite often I refer to my books and Pinterest. I am far from a perfect stitcher and I’m ok with being “Perfectly Imperfect”! I find it adds to the whimsy of the finished piece. I absolutely love what I do, I love teaching my art. The reception I have received from my past workshop’s attendees as well as the overwhelming response I have received over my finished original designs quite literally blow me away.

§  Painting was my main passion for years in which I sold my pieces of art throughout England, Canada and USA. My 2 passions have been melded together in a way once I realized I can create Embroidery Patterns using my sketches.
