"Absolute Beginner Quilting Workshop" with Janis Johnston
Janis Johnston will be your instructor for this beginner quilting workshop. You will learn all the fundamentals to quilting. This workshop is perfect for the person who has never tried their hand at piecing (quilting) and wants to learn! Before you purchase all the tools necessary for this wonderful craft our workshop includes ALMOST EVERYTHING to start your journey and test the waters!
We will be making the " Hobo Rails Table Runner" finished size 23in x41in
Workshop Dates: Tuesdays: January 27th, Feb 3rd, Feb 10th, Feb 17th
From: 10-2
***I must have at least 4 attendees. A full refund will be issued on Jan 26th if class does not fill***
You will learn/receive:
- how to use a rotary cutter and basic rulers
- proper pressing skills
- step by step instructions
- learn essential techniques to cut and sew precisely
- basic piecing skills
- how to put your table runner together/sandwich, quilt and then bind
- learn basic quilting (Stitch in the Ditch)
Included:
- 4 week workshop
- kit ( fabric for 1 table runner, backing, binding included)
- batting
- use of shop rulers/rotary cutters/cutting stations
- use of shop extension cords
- use of irons/ ironing boards

You Will Need:
- to bring your own working sewing machine to class
- to know your sewing machine and bring instruction manual to class (if you have one)
- thread (can be purchased at the shop)
- small scissors (available here)
- sharp, fine embroidery needle to hand bind your table runner (available here)
IMPORTANT: If you make too many mistakes you may need to purchase extra fabric. You will only have enough fabric in your kit to finish one project. This is ok, everyone makes mistakes but I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page.
